Nodus shelter

Introducing Nodus, a shelter that is defined by modern design and flexibility. It is a minimalist shelter whose basic structural element is a supporting column as an integral part, carrying vertical glazed (or otherwise materially designed) bays as well as an elegant pitched roof. Thanks to the possibility of any number of connected bays, it is possible to create virtually unlimited length installations, tailored to specific needs.

Thoughtful construction and clean design

The structure of the Nodus shelter is made up of strong columns that serve as a load-bearing part for the rear cover and for the roofing. This solution, implemented in one piece without additional interfering struts and beams, ensures an exceptionally clean and modern appearance. The columns are dimensioned not only for the installation of glazing (or other infill), but also for the fitting of other functional elements such as seat cushions or armrests. This eliminates the need to install separate benches in additional concrete preparation. The absence of benches will be particularly appreciated by maintenance workers, for whom cleaning in the shelter area will be considerably easier. For installation in areas with difficult climatic conditions (e.g. higher snow zones), the structure can be supplemented with additional reinforcing elements.

The standard depth of the covered space is optimised for installation alongside roads, typically on pavements. However, the shelter can be installed on any surface, even unpaved, with prepared piles. The glazing can be chosen not only from the rear, but of course also from the sides. The depth of the shelter can be adjusted according to the needs of a particular project.

Safety and easy operation

The roof glazing is made of translucent VSG safety glass as standard, which protects against direct sunlight and will not fall through in the event of breakage, thus not endangering people under the shelter. The glass on the rear and side walls is of the ESG type, which breaks into small, unsharpened fragments if broken, thus avoiding the risk of injury. Economical operation and maintenance are ensured by the concept of smaller glazed areas that do not require the replacement of large and costly parts in the event of damage. The glass is strong and durable enough for everyday outdoor use in public places.

Durability and aesthetics of the surface finish

As with all our steel shelters, Nodus comes standard with a hot-dip galvanized finish for long-term corrosion protection and minimal maintenance. For added aesthetic value and further protection, the structure can be powder coated in any RAL colour or with a complementary texture. This finish gives the shelter an exclusive and professional appearance and allows it to be matched with, for example, municipal visual identity or corporate identity.

Customisation and versatility - references

Public transport in Sokolov: For the project of replacement of public transport stops in Sokolov we delivered 38 new Nodus shelters. Here, some exclusive elements requested by the customer were used, such as seats made of stainless steel perforated sheet and supports made of very durable local acacia wood, which, even in the basic hot-dip galvanized version, lend the shelters a hallmark of uniqueness. On request, the shelters were equipped with lockable aluminium showcases for timetables. The project in Sokolov also demonstrated the ability to be installed in atypical, even restrictive locations, such as raised walls or stepped-down plinths.

Smoking shelter HI-LEX: The versatility of the Nodus shelter is confirmed by the realization for the Japanese company HI-LEX. Nodus, originally developed for transport infrastructure, was chosen by the company as a smoking shelter for employees at its production site in the Czech Republic. The minimalist, modern look of the Nodus shelter corresponded perfectly with the new industrial development and the possibility of fitting it with seating accessories was another plus. For HI-LEX, Nodus was manufactured with column extensions for planned installation under the paving slabs, hot-dip galvanised and then powder coated in the colour used on the existing buildings on the site. The addition of ashtrays for smokers and bird protection were just the final steps in this successful implementation.
